PDX is a consumer fair that will draw all scuba divers, water enthusiasts, and marine conservationalists, the academe, and students to network, to listen to lectures/talks on various marine conservation projects, product demonstrations, mini fashion show, kidie contests, film showing, and more.

“The time is now”, Secretary Joseph H. Durano affirmed, stating we are now back in the radar screens of travel investors, travel and tour operators, and tourists in general. DOT special teams have been organized to entice more tourists to come to the Philippines in various trade and tourism fairs abroad particularly China, Korea, Japan, Russia, Scandinavia, Europe, and the Americas.

Rigthly so, as the objective of the Philippine Dive Expo (PDX) 2008 is to highlight the special interest of Scuba Diving in the Philippines.

Highlighting the best dives in the Philippines is American scientist Kent Carpenter in his book: Philippine Islands: The Center of the Center in Marine BioDiversity in the World (2005)

We are the Epicenter of the Scuba Diving in the world, and we should proudly market this to the world”, Tourism Asst. Secretary and concurrent PCSSD Executive Director Cynthia L Carrion enthusiastically stated. “ We will have various activities starting with the PDX, and the year-long collaborative campaign for education on conservative and sea stewards, professionalism and standardization of dive equipment , dive resorts, and people capability enhancement, and empowerment of the country-side barangays and fisherfolks”.

The support and cooperation thrown by the dive suppliers, dive distributors, live-a-board operators, resort owners, hotels, and dive associations here and abroad to the PDX has been encouraging. The LGUs has likewise committed to support the events.

PDX will be the convergence of diving, travel and tour operators, and adventure tourism leaders, wholesalers, and enthusiasts. With speakers lined up to talk on very relevant topics in scuba diving, boats, safety, and other water sports.

We are looking forward to a sincere collaboration among all stakeholders in the scuba diving industry.

"Our goals are varied and cannot be done overnight. But this again is a positive step towards a vibrant Philippine scuba diving lifestyle. We will work together for its fruition.
